Introduction - Aztec Codex Project
Aztec codices were images only—no written language.
1. In partners (2 students) you will work together to create you own codex illustrating an activity or event you participate in regularly or a ceremony or a celebration. 2. Students will be responsible for drawing on a one side card and writing a description of the activity on the other side. 3. The cards will be taped together when done to create an accordion-folded book. 4. Groups will exchange their codex with another group and (without showing the meaning on the back) attempt to write the meaning of the codex on a separate sheet of paper. 5. Compare your messages. What does this process suggest about the possibility of misunderstanding the Aztec codices? |
